Emergency teams mobilised to support children and families in Chocó and Buenaventura.
UNICEF is expanding its emergency response in western Colombia following a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the department of Chocó and the coastal city of Buenaventura. Damaged homes, schools and health facilities have left many families without safe shelter or access to basic services.
UNICEF teams are working alongside national and local authorities to assess the needs of affected children, with a focus on restoring safe learning spaces, psychosocial support and access to clean water in the earthquake-affected communities.
