The Children’s Climate Risk Report 2026 places Bangladesh among the five highest-risk countries in Asia.
UNICEF’s Children’s Climate Risk Report 2026 has ranked Bangladesh among the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world for children, scoring 10 out of 10 on the agency’s hazard index. More than half of Bangladeshi children live in areas exposed to serious riverine flood risk, threatening their access to healthcare, education, nutrition and safe water.
According to the report, tens of millions of children across Bangladesh face overlapping hazards — flooding, cyclones, drought, heatwaves and air pollution — that compound each other and place growing pressure on already-stretched public services. Globally, the report finds that more than a billion children are now exposed to at least three overlapping climate hazards.
UNICEF is calling on governments to invest in child-focused climate resilience, from flood-safe schools and health facilities to early-warning systems that protect the youngest and most vulnerable first.
